Home Practice - Sumdog
Maths challenge - Adding more
Phonics challenge - Dependent on phonics groups
We have also been entered into a Sumdog competition so try your best to score as many points as possible!
Counting – We have been counting on in Maths this week. Can you practise counting on from the largest number (e.g. with 9 + 4, have 9 in your head and count on 4 more).
Reading - Please try to read at least three times a week.
Please remember to bring book bags each day.
English
We didn't read a book this week in English; we watched a video! We met a dragon called Edgar who just wanted to play with everyone, but he kept making mistakes. We focused on feelings this week, identifying the children's feelings, Edgar's feelings and creating a feelings timeline.
Here is the link if you want to watch the video at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xGW_M0O4xI
We also focused on producing correctly-formed capital letters.
Phonics
Some of us learnt the two oo sounds - oo in soon and oo in look.
Some of us have compared ir and ur, ow and ou and oi and oy.
Some of us learnt ch in chorus, ch in chef and a in wasp.
Maths
We introduced the counting-on method to add single-digit numbers to teen numbers.
We also solved some tricky one-step addition word problems.
R.E.
We read the story of Jesus in the Temple as a twelve-year-old boy. We learnt a new word - obedience, and how Jesus was not obedient at the beginning of the story. We identified Mary and Joseph's feelings during the passage and wrote sentences explaining how we can be obedient.
P.E.
This week, we used a frog jump and a bunny hop to travel around the room. We performed an egg roll on the mat and a tuck jump off the bench onto a mat.
P.S.H.E.
We identified an experience that we show gratitude for. For example, being taken on holiday.
Art
We planned our medal and labelled the features.
Computing
We continued to learn how to type on a keyboard. This week, we used the caps lock key to add capital letters to our sentences.
Science
We started our new unit on materials. We sorted everyday objects into the material that they are made from.
Forest School
We listened to a story called The King of the Birds.
We made bird feeders and hung them up.
It was very muddy in the nature area but we had so much fun!
