Year 1 - Visit to Martin Mere
Lesson: Science
Class: Year 1 Year: 2022 - 2023
This week we visited Martin Mere. We had a great day filled with lots of new learning. We went into the Eco Garden and went on a plant hunt to find plants which smelled of pizza or garlic. We hunted for plants which had different shaped flowers and leaves. Then we had a session about what plants need to grow. We amazed Clare, our leader, with our brilliant knowledge! We went for an explore on the wild walk and found the biggest bug hotel in the world. The Lego models were all fabulous too- some of them used 40,000 bricks and took over 200 hours to build.
We were ready for our lunch (in some cases as soon as we arrived at Martin Mere!) and we ate it in a lovely classroom. We then went pond dipping. We all followed the instructions carefully and found all sorts of creatures-newts, pond skaters, snails and their eggs, and even dragonfly larvae. To finish our visit we had a play in the play area.
All the children represented St Oswald's very well.
