Reconciliation Day - Year 5

Lesson: Religious education

Class: Year 5 Year: 2021 - 2022

The children had a lovely day on Monday celebrating their sacrament of reconciliation.

The children started the day in school undertaking a series of activities relating to choices.  They role played scenarios and discussed how they could show they were sorry for poor choices made in the scenarios, they had to sort a range of behaviours into good and bad choices and then discussed how the children felt about each.  Father Michael came to speak to the children about Reconciliation and read them the parable of the Prodigal Son.

After lunch we walked over to church where the children had 6 different activities including prayer, discussing ways to be helpful at home, discussing how sometimes we can make wrong choices but by apologising we can be forgiven and we thought of someone we had been mean to and how we could make it up to them, the children also spent time at the Baptismal font thinking of how they were a blessing to other people and how they make people's lives better.

Finally the children undertook the sacrament of Reconciliation with Father Michael and Father Roy.  The children were very respectful and sensible throughout.  We finished with a song that related to the Gospel reading.

The children had a lovely day taking part in the sacrament or supporting their friends in this.  We would like to thank all the parents and relatives that came to support the children in their journey.
