Date: 5th Mar 2026 @ 11:48am

Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog.
This week in Year 6
English
![]()
In English we have been continuing with our detective fiction topic. We have shared the story 'Bad Presents' together and written an independent diary entry based on the text.
Maths

This week, we have been learning all about ratio. We have learned how to scale up a ratio from the total or a part. We have also learned how to identify a ratio from a given set.
RE

In RE, we shared the gospel story of 'The Anointing at Bethany' and created a film clip retelling of the story to explain what this story teaches us about Jesus. We also shared and discussed the gospel story where Jesus washes the feet of his disciples. We reflected on what this story teaches us and how we can live this message each day through drawing some beautiful artwork.
Topic
In Art, we completed our Brave Colour topic by designing a colourful Art instillation for an exhibition. We thought carefully about light, colour and sound and how we would want someone to experience our rooms.
For World Book Day, we all enjoyed creating character profiles about the characters that we had dressed up as. You can see our work on the galleries!
In PE, we continued to hone our tag rugby skills by practising tagging, intercepting and working as part of a team.

Please complete the following tasks by Wednesday:
Reading - Use your home reading to read every night for 30 minutes. You also have a reading diary that must be used for the title of the book and any challenges chosen.
Books may be changed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Spelling -
Spellings this week are from the Y5/Y6 and the Y3/Y4 statutory spellings.
We will have our test on the 13/03/26
It is useful to write the words down on the spelling sheet, but you could also ask someone to call the words out and spell them out loud. Other ideas include, breaking the words up and writing them down in different colours (accommodate). You could look for words within words (accompany) or think of your own ways to remember the word, for example, spell it aloud using a mnemonic or tune.
