Year 6 | Willow Wood Community Primary School

Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog.

All of Year 6 have had a busy first week back in school. All of the children have been working hard at rehersals for our production. Year 6 have also helped to run the tough kidder this week. Well done for all your hard work Year 6!

This week in Year 6

English

The Arrival

In English we have been exploring the graphic novel 'The Arrival'. We have used our inference skills this week as there are no words in the text! We have written a narrative based on an image from the story, a diary entry in role as the protagonist and created a backstory for one of the characters who moved to the city.

RE

Common Good Thinking - Together For The Common Good

In RE, we have started our new topic 'Dialogue and Encounter'. We have learned what the common good is and created shields to represent the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

Topic

In Science, we have started our new topic all about evolution! We have learned about adaptation in plants by researching different plants and finding out how they are adapted to their environment.

In History, we have continued our topic all about WW2. We have learned how Hitler rose to power.

In Computing, we have been investigating how to use spreadsheets and how to add a formula to a spreadsheet.
