Year 6 – Baileys Court Primary School

Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog.

Well done to all of Year 6 for their amazing Sport's Day this afternoon!

This week in Year 6

English

Francis… – TheLiteracyLeader.

In English, we have been inspired by different videos this week to create narratives with suspense. We created a blend of action, dialogue and description based on the videos 'Francis' and 'Alma' and utilised our skills as writers to build tension into our narratives. We also wrote a leaflet to persuade someone to visit Longton!

RE

BBC - Religions - Sikhism: Guru Nanak

In RE, we have learned all about Sikhism. We researched and created some amazing leaflets to explain all about the values and symbols of Sikhism! We also compared a Catholic and Sikh charity to understand about the similarities and differences. This week, we also learned about what a world view is and thought about what factors impacted upon our own worldviews.

Topic

In Science, we have continued our topic on evolution. We learned all about peppered moths and how the species is a greate example for how natural selection may lead to evolution.

In History, we learned about how Britain reacted to the start of WW2. We listened to the radio broadcast from Neville Chamberlin announcing the start of the war and created our own propaganda poster based a real example.

In French, we have been learning the names of French snacks as part of our cafe topic.
