  • Sumdog (Lancashire Sumdog Winter Wonderland Contest)

This week’s Sumdog contest is once again against Year 7 from All Hallows. Try your best to get as many questions completed before next Thursday 21st. The questions will be based on your Sumdog level and will vary across many topics.

REMINDER:

  • Bring in spare trainers and socks for our last cross-country session next week.

On Wednesday, we celebrated a special Robinwood assembly for Year 5.  We shared our favourite activities, named the challenges we overcame and showed our Robinwood video.

On Thursday, we had a visit from the ‘Dogs Trust’ who came in to talk about how to keep safe around other people’s dogs.

  • In Maths, we learnt how to find percentages of numbers. Percent is defined as ‘out of 100’ and they are very easily related to fractions. We used hundredth fractions and bar models to help us solve questions.

  • In English, following a visit from Year 3 last week who showed off their amazing writing of the wordless book, ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker, we decided to return the favour. Year 6 created their own version of the wordless book, ‘Quest’, which is the sequel to Journey and showed our super writing on Friday. You can see the pictures here.

  • In RE, we wrote a Christmas prayer related to what Christians expect at this time of year.

  • In Design and Technology, we began our final design for our Christmas tree decoration using thread and needles. It has been great to see everyone develop their stitching skills this week. Check out the final pictures here.

  • In Science, we learnt about the digestive system and how food travels from our mouth, through the oesophagus into the stomach, through the intestines and out as a stool.

  • In Art, we learnt about Kate Deciccio, an activism artist. We were inspired to create our own activism art in the bold and colourful design of Romero Britto.
