Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog.

This week in Year 6

English

Charles Darwin - Theory, Book & Quotes

In English, we have been inspired by our evolution topic this week. We worked hard to research all about Charles Darwin and used the facts we found to create a biography all about his life and work. We also learned about Mary Anning and wrote a letter in role, explaining her thoughts and feelings when she found the ichthyosaur.

Maths

Countdown Letters and Numbers Games – Queen's Hill Primary School

In Maths, we have started our new topic all about applied Maths. We have used our Maths skills that we have learned this year and applied them to different gameshow Maths!

RE

Compound Adjectives (with Examples) | Grammarly Blog

In RE, we have learned what the word dialogue means. We created storyboards based on a dialogue between two friends and thought about what they might say to each other.

Topic

In Science, we have continued our topic on evolution. We researched different animals and learned about their special adaptations that help them to survive in their habitats.

In History, we learned about how WW2 began. We thought about different causes and the effect that they had on the start of the war.

In Computing, we created spreadsheets and used formula to plan a party!
