Year 6 Blog - Friday 12th December 2025
Date: 11th Dec 2025 @ 8:13am
Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog!
This week in Year 6
English

In English we have continued learning about the novel 'A Christmas Carol'. We have learned all about the features of a persuasive letter. We have worked hard to write in role as Scrooge, using formal language to persuade London City Council to cancel Christmas!
Maths

This week, we have learned how to calculate the area of a triangle. We have also started a new topic on pie charts and learned how to calculate the amounts of segments using our fractions knowledge.
RE
In RE, we have shared the story of Ruth and Naomi from the Old Testament. We have thought carefully about this quote from Pope John Paul II: “The women of the Old Testament were true protagonists of salvation history" and discussed the role of women in salvation history together.
Topic
In DT, we have been working hard to make some amazing felt ornaments. Look at our gallery to see our work.
In Computing, we completed our work on Tinkercad by designing and creating our own 3D models of a house. You can see some of our creations on the galleries!
In Science, we investigated how refraction works by observing how objects change when placed in water.

Please complete the following tasks by Wednesday:
Reading - Use your home reading to read every night for 30 minutes. You also have a reading diary that must be used for the title of the book and any challenges chosen.
Books may be changed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Homework this week is to learn the songs for our Christingles service next week.
