Year 6 Blog - Friday 5th December 2025
Date: 4th Dec 2025 @ 12:36pm

Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog!
This week in Year 6
English

In English we have started a new novel, 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens. We have explored the characters in the story this week and we have worked hard to create a character description of Scrooge and of Marley's ghost!
Maths

In Maths, we have been learning all about different angles. We have investigated how alternate angles and opposite angles are equal. We also learned that angles inside a triangle add up to 180° and used this fact to determine missing angles within triangles, including isosceles triangles.
RE

In RE, we have learned about the important women from the Old Testament. We have worked hard to create a book all about these women by researching them.
Topic
In DT, we have been busy designing a felt Christmas ornament for a Christmas tree. We thought about our design criteria and sketched our products.
In Computing, we continued our work on Tinkercad and designed a name badge. We had to combine and rotate objects on the workspace.
We have also been working hard in Science, where we have investigated how shadows change over a day. We discovered that a shadow is longer in the evening and morning and shortest in the middle of the day. This is because of the angle of the sun in the sky.

Please complete the following tasks by Thursday:
Reading - Use your home reading to read every night for 30 minutes. You also have a reading diary that must be used for the title of the book and any challenges chosen.
Books may be changed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
