Times Tables

Please keep practising your times tables. It’s so important to be able to re-call them quickly for Year 5 maths.

Sumdog

Maths practise based on measurement– individual challenge.

Spelling Challenge – practise sheets have been sent home and there is a practise test on Sumdog.

Sumdog have just launched a new fluency booster that is automatically available when your child signs into the app. This feature will direct you to skills that your child needs to improve on to boost their number fluency and will automatically update to meet their fluency needs.

We advise that your child spends at least 10 minutes a day on their booster feature as well as completing the maths focus and times tables challenges.

We have had a great learning week in Year 5.

Year 5 have finished Varjak Paw this week and practised a variety of writing styles, including book reviews, diary entries and re-telling the plot.

In Maths they have been practising drawing, measuring and estimating angles. They will be moving on to fractions next week.

This week in RE, the whole class has been focussing on the signs and symbols of the Holy Spirit and the mystery of the Trinity.  They have also spent some reflection and prayer time, following the death of Pope Francis.

Year 5 have also spent some time writing about what the earth means to them and how to protect it – a subject that was very close to Pope Francis’s heart.

The week has ended with a yoga session and, in History, Year 5 have started a new topic about the ancient Maya civilisation. Thank you Year 5 for a great start to the summer term.
