Year 5 have had a great first week back and come back eager to learn – well done Year 5!

In English Year 5 have been writing their own fairytale and they have also started their new class novel – ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’ by Kate DiCamillo.

In Maths Year 5 have been practising measuring and drawing angles and have now moved on to a new topic about improper and mixed number fractions.

In RE this week, Year 5 have really enjoyed working in groups to re-tell the story of Pentecost in the form of a news broadcast. Fantastic job Year 5!

Early in the week Year 5 enjoyed an afternoon outside planting strawberries and splitting plants.

In Forest School we had a great session in the nature area. We were hunting for mini beasts and related this to learning we have been doing in class. Some of us built a stream with a dam, there was fabulous teamwork, problem solving and resilience shown. It did get quite muddy but there was brilliant learning going on.

Some of us did some stick wrapping and forest eyes. We showed creativity, imagination and it's really good for developing our fine motor skills.

In Computing, the class have started to practise their coding skills and enjoyed a lesson with Mr Campbell introducing this.

Finally, Year 5 have really enjoyed lots of outdoor time this week, including playing cricket in PE.

Well done Year 5 on another great week of learning!
