Year 5 have enjoyed a sunny week with lots of learning and outdoor time too– well done Year 5!

In English Year 5 have been writing predictions about the novel, using ‘-ed’ starters, as well as practising retrieving and inferring from the novel– ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’ by Kate di Camillo.

In Maths Year 5 have been trying so hard adding and subtracting mixed fractions and converting from improper fractions to mixed numbers.

In RE this week, Year 5 have been exploring the various references in the bible to the Holy Spirit. They have also been examining various artworks depicting these and critiquing them. Fantastic job Year 5!

In Forest Schoolwee worked really together when we were building our obstacle courses. There was great discussion and some imaginative ideas for throwing, jumping, balancing and lifting. We took care when moving the logs and branches around and the winners received medals which were made out of natural materials.

The class also took a trip down to the pond and had great fun finding and identifying insects and butterflies. Our finds included a Tasty Water Bug and a Red Admiral butterfly.

In Art, the class have been debating the pro’s and cons of large versus tiny houses, discussing the environmental and cost impacts of both. They have been sketching their own architectural ideas, using inspiration from various house designers.

Finally, Year 5 have started their new topic on Maya civilisation, learning about where and when this era took place.

Well done Year 5 on another great week of learning!
