Year 5 have returned to school with a really positive learning attitude– a super effort all round Year 5!
In English the class have started a new novel called, ‘Street child’, by Bertie Doherty. They have started to discuss how people without money lived in Victorian times in London, where the book is set. They have been practising building up their sentences into complex ones, with lots of detail included.
In Maths Year 5 have been focussing on multiplication methods of large numbers, as well as practising calculating the area of various shapes..
In RE this week, Year 5 have been learning about the Beatitudes; Jesus’ guide for us on how to be happy in life. The class have also been comparing them to the ten commandments and looking for links between the two sets of guidelines for life.
In computing, the class spent some time discussing how to keep safe online, as well as working in groups to create ideas for new community based apps, where children with like minded interests could share ideas and socialise remotely.
Finally, in RSE, the class have been discussing and exploring how every person is created in the image of God and recognising that, as children, they are developing from baby through to adolescent, and recognising how changes happen at each stage of childhood. The focus was on the social and emotional changes children go through as they transition to becoming teenagers.
Well done Year 5 on another great week of learning!
