 We have had a fantastic start in Year 5 and all the children have tried so hard with their learning. Well done to the new Year 5!

Reading

Children should read out loud every day for 20 minutes. Use a dictionary to find the meaning of any words you don’t know or ask an adult. Book bags are currently being issued for home reading. All children should come home with a book bag by early next week.

Spelling

Times Tables

Please keep practising your times tables.  We will be practising mixed times tables next week.

Sumdog

Maths practise – individual challenge.

Spelling Challenge – practise sheets have been sent home and there is a practise test on Sumdog.

Please also continue to use the fluency booster on Sumdog.

Year 5 have started a new novel this week in English – ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and they have already done some impressive writing about the main characters.

 In Maths they have been looking at large numbers, how to say and write them and they have also been revising how to exchange. Well done Year 5!

The first piece of scripture in RE was from Exodus and was all about Moses and the burning bush in the desert, where God spoke to him and gave him an important task. The children enjoyed re-telling the story.

In PE, Year 5 have been practising their throwing skills in netball and all enjoyed playing in teams.

Finally, they all enjoyed creating different letter forms in the new Art topic on typography.
