Year 5 have had another fantastic week of learning – well done!

In English the class have developed their skills in writing a balanced argument, based on the class novel, ‘Escape from Shangri-La’ by Michael Morpurgo. In their sports reporting session this week, the class focussed on a Paralympic athlete called Nathan Maguire who overcame great difficulties to succeed in sport.

In Maths Year 5 have started a new topic on multiples and factors. This is based on quick retrieval of basic times table and division knowledge.

In RE this week, Year 5 have been reading and discussing psalm 21, which is a song of praise for David and his victory over Goliath.

In Science, the class performed an experiment to examine and record the effects of water resistance on different shapes.

Year 5 also enjoyed participating in a dance festival this week as well as developing their hockey skills in PE this week.

Finally, the class have joined the rest of the school and around the world in a day to celebrate the CAFOD jubilee year of hope. They have joined a live lesson and created journals, reflecting on the theme of hope and how we as a school have participated in the mission. Another super week of learning Year 5!
