Reading

Read out loud every day for 20 minutes. Try to find one amazing word and bring it into class - we will add these to our English display.

Spelling

Here are your spellings this week. They all contain the letters ei. Can you figure out what different sounds the ei makes and identify any patterns or rules?

Maths

In maths this week we have been using our new method to divide and interpet remainders. It is so important that we know our times tables!

Our new method includes looking at our times tables and using related facts

2,600 ÷ 5 =

We can partition 2,600 into 2,500 and 100

25÷ 5 = 5

So 2,500 ÷ 5 = 500

100 ÷ 5 = 20

So 2,600 ÷ 5 = 520

English

In English we read more of our class novel Street Child. We also wrote a non-chronological report all about the Victorians.

A non-chronological report gives the reader facts about a topic and can be read in any order.

RE

In RE we spoke about Jesus' mission to teach, preach and spread the Good News. We read Good News for the Poor from Isaiah which was one of the scriptures Jesus first read when he started his mission in Nazareth. We thought about how the words would have helped and comforted people. We then came up with ways we can comfort people when they need us.

Geography

We thought about different ways humans have affected the landscape in Britain and had a really interesting discussion about: what if the government banned any more building in the United Kingdom?

Have this discussion at home, does everybody agree?

Science

In science we carried out a fair test to find out the effect water resistance has on different shapes.

We know that water resistance is a force which slows objects down as they move through water, it is a type of friction.

We made different shapes out of playdough and timed how long they took to fall to the bottom of a cylinder of water.

Have a happy weekend.

I hope you're in the mindset to do what makes you happy. Sending you positive vibes for a happy weekend. ❤️🤸‍♀️ . . . #happyweekend… | Instagram
