Year 5 have had a fabulous week of learning and have put in 100% effort – well done!

In English the class have been continuing to learn about blending similes, relative clauses and sub-ordinating conjunctions in a natural way in their writing. The children enjoyed writing a diary entry as Edmund, as well as detailed decriptions of Aslan the lion.

In Maths Year 5 have been consolidating their knowledge of subtraction using the grid method. Well done Year 5!

Year 5 have enjoyed discussing ways that they can help others in the world in RE this week. They have set themselves a mission to collect and bring in unwanted items like small toys, hair accessories, stationery and books. They are then going to be sent in decorated shoeboxes to a local organisation in Preston, who will then distribute them to children in need. All donations welcome.

In Science, everyone enjoyed taking readings of their paper planes, both as a streamlined model and then after modifying it to add drag to the design.

Finally, in History this week, Year 5 took a  more in depth look at life in an Anglo Saxon village and created a chronological timeline.
