It has been our first full week in Year 5 and it has been fantastic.

We loved our well earned Golden Time on Friday.

Golden Time Gallery.

In English we have been reading our class novel Goth Girl. We studied the main character Ada and then described our own character.

We have also been looking at proper nouns and common nouns.

A proper noun is the name of a specific person, place or thing, it usually has a capital letter.

Spain, Primark, KitKat, Lucy.

A common noun is the name for a type of person, place or thing.

country, shop, chocolate, girl.

In maths we have been using place value to order and compare numbers with hundreds of thousands and thousandths.

We started our new science topic on forces. We investigated to answer the question, What is a force?

We used playdough, toy cars, ramps, and magnets to answer this question.

We found that a force is a push or pull that can:

Make something move, speed something up, slow something down, change the shape of something, or change the direction of something.

You can see us in action here.

In RE we spoke all about our qualities and how we were made to be like God.

We came up with some qualities like:

I am honest

I am humble

I am positive

I am passionate

I am thoughtful.
