Year 5 have had another great week of learning, not to mention all the rehearsing – well done!

In English the class have continued to read and discuss the class novel, ‘Escape from Shangri-La’ by Michael Morpurgo. They also thoroughly enjoyed developing their writing skills as sports journalists with Gareth from Literary Kicks. He will be visiting Year 5 every week until Christmas.

In Maths Year 5 have been continuing to practise their measuring skills, including working out the perimeter of various irregular, multi-sided shapes. Everyone tried really hard to be accurate with this.

In RE this week, Year 5 have been reading and discussing the bible story about David and Goliath and how David’s absolute faith in God ensured that he defeated Goliath and protected God’s people from slavery.

Finally, the class have been discussing what it means to be a true friend and what to do when things get tricky in relationships. They have been very positive and resilient in practising their friendship assembly and it was very heart warming to see them all perform so well. A huge well done Year 5!
