Please read out loud every day for 20 minutes. Use a dictionary to find the meaning of any words you don’t know or ask an adult.

Times Tables

Please keep practising your times tables.  We will be practising the 7 times table in class next week.

Sumdog

Maths practise – individual challenge.

Spelling Challenge – practise sheets have been sent home and there is a practise test on Sumdog.

Please also continue to use the fluency booster on Sumdog.

The class have had a very productive week of learning in Year 5 this week. The children have put 100% effort in which is great to see!

Year 5 continued to read the novel this week in English – ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and have been practising handwriting, using fronted adverbials, similes and expanded noun phrases.

 In Maths the class have been looking at place value of decimals as well as practising lots of arithmetic and times tables. Well done Year 5!

In RE, the children have developed their knowledge of Moses, as well as having spent time discussing the meaning of each of the ten commandments.

Everyone also enjoyed the typography art topic this week with some very creative interpretations of letter styles!

In PE, Year 5 have moved on to practising shoulder passes and shooting in netball. They also enjoyed playing bench ball and dodgeball this week.

Finally, the week ended with their new geography topic about the UK. They were able to identify the similarities and differences between the four countries of the UK.
