Sacramental Programme – Session 3

Year 4 had another interesting and successful session in church on Monday.

This week, the children discussed their relationship with God through different types of prayer.  The children considered how we can pray anywhere and at anytime, and that prayer is:

  • talking to God and listening to Him
  • words, silence and songs of praise
  • actions, movement and stillness.

The children read through the words of The Lord’s Prayer and then examined more closely some of the words and phrases, and their meaning. Following this, the children discussed how Mass is the most perfect form of prayer and talked about the different parts of the service and the order in which they come.

Finally, the children were shown how to use each finger of their hand to pray for different people.  They drew their hand on a sheet of paper and were given a prayer suggestion for each finger. The session finished with the children standing on the altar and saying prayers together.

Please have a look at the sheets your child has brought home and discuss The Lord’s Prayer with them.  The children have also been asked to write their own prayer on the back page of the worksheet.

We appreciate your time and support in helping your children understand the significance of the work they are completing as part of their Faith Journey.

Please remember Y4 Reconciliation Day is on Monday 28th March. Y4 Parents are invited to come along to church at 2.15pm to join in with the Service.
