Year 4

Home Practice 10th February 2022

Welcome to the last blog of this half term. These 6 weeks have flown by with all the learning Year 4 have been doing! Here’s what we have been learning this week ….

In English, we planned and wrote a letter. We revised the features of an informal letter and then wrote a letter from Michael to his best friend Eddie, which included details from the novel.  Year 4 have worked hard to improve their writing this week – well done.

In Maths, we finished our division topic. We revisited the chunking method, learnt the effect of dividing a 2 digit number by 10, and solved division problems using strategies we had learnt.  Super work Year 4 as division can be quite tricky – you have shown a much greater understanding this week.

In Music, we played a rhythm game called ‘Give me One’.  Then, we practised the chords C, F and G on the ukuleles.  We played along to ‘Lean on Me’ using these chords, and tried to improve our chord shapes and chord changes. Mrs Winter was so impressed with our playing that she asked us to perform in Golden Assembly!  Fantastic Year 4, you should be very proud!

This week in French, we looked at the atlas to find the Francophone countries in Africa. Then we read an interview with Sadio Mane, the Senegalese football player, whose team have just won the African Cup of nations.  We then asked and answered questions about ourselves.

This week was Children’s Mental Health week and the theme was ‘Growing Together’.  We celebrated lots of things we are good at, things that we have achieved and how we have grown both physically and mentally.  We also enjoyed seeing all the outfits you wore on ‘Dress to Express’ day! You all looked amazing!

As always, a very busy week in Year 4. Over half term, please continue to read every day, as well as practising any times tables you know you find especially tricky.

Have a lovely holiday – relax and recharge your batteries.

See you all on Monday 21st February
