Please read for 20 minutes each evening to an adult at home.

Our Learning This Week

In English, we started our new novel - The Firework Maker’s Daughter by Philip Pullman.

We studied the front cover and labelled what we could see, and then made predictions about what the novel might be about based on our observations.

In Maths, we learnt how to identify and describe the rule of a sequence and extend the given sequence using this rule.

We also understood the effect of dividing a two digit number by 100.

In RE, we discussed our gifts and talents as well as the things which make us unique.

Following this, we created a litany which recognised the gifts and uniqueness of friends and family.

In addition, we showed an understanding that loving God means we want to help ourselves and others, using the virtues of faith, hope and love, which have their foundations in God.

You can see some photos of our paperchain links in our gallery.

In Science, we carried out our melting chocolate experiment – which type of chocolate melts the fastest. You can see some pictures in our gallery.

In our ‘Our Happy Mind’ lesson, learnt about first aid and what to do in an emergency. We learnt the acronym HELPS :

H – help

E – explain

L – location

P – pay attention

S – stay calm

In Art, we practised sketching gerberas.

We also practised tints and shades of a colour and then painted gerberas in our books.

Have a look at some examples in our gallery.

On a Monday afternoon, we are also enjoying taking part in Forest School.

It was rather rainy for our session but we didn't mind. We found snails, ladybirds, slugs and worms. We realised that different creatures prefer different habitats, the ladybirds were all found in some long, thin leaves and the snails were all huddled together in a compost bin.

There was also some great child-initiated learning which included a cafe and an outdoor gym.

Some of us made forest eyes with wool and lolly sticks which develops our fine motor skills and it's also a very mindful activity.

Take a look at the pictures in our gallery.

As it was World Book Day on Thursday, we enjoyed reading with Year 2 in the afternoon.

You can see some photos in our gallery of us in our World Book Day costumes, and reading with Year 2.

On Friday morning, we took part in a Wellbeing Festival Day which provided some much needed calm and relaxation after a busy week.

The session included yoga, learning breathing techniques and practised calming movements.

There are some photos in our gallery.
