Please read for 20 minutes each evening to an adult at home.

Reading every night will help you read more fluently and with understanding.

You can practise your tables on TTRockstars, Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

You can practise a similar Multiplication Tables Check on timestables.co.uk

If you practise for 5 minutes every night, you will see a big improvement in your tables fluency.

Please also practise your number facts.

You can practise your number facts on Hit the Button

It is crucial that you learn all of your table facts and your number facts as this will help you with many aspects of maths.

Our learning this week

English

In English, we read the story ‘Food Fight’. We then planned and wrote a perilous adventure about what Grape and Mushroom encountered on their way to the top of the fridge to ask The Big Cheese for advice.

Following this, we retold the story from The Big Cheese’s point of view!

Maths

In Maths, we consolidated our learning about coordinates.

We then extended this learning to translate points from one co-ordinate to another on a co-ordinate grid.

We also learnt what is meant by the term ‘area’ (the amount of space taken up by a 2D shape) and how to calculate it.

RE

In RE, we talked about why the Pope is described as ‘the servant of the servants of God’.

In order to do this, we needed to understand the role of the clergy within the church and how the church is structured.

PSHE

In PSHE, we learnt what makes a good friend, how friends can help us solve problems, and why it is important to show gratitude to friends.

Science

In Science, we recapped the different types of teeth and their functions.

We then looked at the structure of a tooth and discussed which parts can become damaged with plaque or tooth decay.

We also set up an investigation to find out how different liquids could affect our teeth, using boiled eggs!

Music

In Music, we sang in groups and put actions to our songs – we were able to input our own ideas.

We also practised pentatonic singing and listened and repeated songs as accurately as we could.

Have a look in our gallery at some pictures.

History

In History, we learnt about life in Sparta and Athens.

We compared these two city states and then decided where we would rather live, based on our historical knowledge.

Art

In art, we sketched 'fine' and 'rough' nests.

Have a look at the photos in our gallery.

Laudato Si Pledges

This week, we also shared Pope Francis’ letter - Laudato Si.

Each class, including Year 4, then wrote pledges about how we can work for the common good and look after our world.

Our pledges were then tied to trees in school.

Have a look at Year 4 hanging up their promises in our gallery.

Tough Kidder

On Thursday afternoon, we took part in Tough Kidder.

Wow – what a fabulous afternoon – please have a look at our pictures in the gallery!

Careers Fair

On Friday morning, we went to a careers fair in the school hall.

We met a variety of adults with different jobs and asked lots of questions!

There are some pictures in our gallery.
