Welcome to our first blog of this school year!

We have had a super week! We have put lots of effort into our lessons and settled well into the new routines in Year 4.

We were proud of our Summer scrapbooks and enjoyed sharing them with our friends and teachers. They enjoyed finding out what we got up to over the Summer holiday.

This week in Year 4

English

In English, we read the poem The Magic Box by Kit Wright.

We used the poem as inspiration for writing our own verses, explaining what we would put in our own ‘magic box’.

Maths

In Maths, we started exploring place value.

We considered that the position of the digit in a number is important, and that 10 hundreds and 1 thousand have the same value.

RE

We started our RE topic – ‘Creation and Covenant’.

We focussed on the story of Abraham and his covenant with God, and showed an understanding of the historical context of Abraham.

History

In History, we started our Romans topic.

We discussed what we already knew, and where when and how the Roman Empire began.
