Our learning this week

English

In English, we used a dictionary to find out the definitions of new words.

We then wrote the word in a sentence of our own to show the word in context.

Maths

In Maths, we converted from m to cm using the conversion 1m = 100cm.

We discovered that we needed to multiply by 100 to convert from m to cm.

We also converted measurements between km and m using the conversion 1km = 1000m.

We discovered that we needed to multiply by 1000 to convert from km to m.

RE

In RE, we explored the mission and some of the writings of St Paul.

PSHE

In PSHE, we considered what ‘big dream goals’ are.

We also learnt why setting goals makes us feel good.

Science

In Science, we explored the relationship between distance and volume.

We discussed how the volume of the school bell might change depending on where we were stood – the further away from the source of the sound, the quieter it would be.

We then planned an experiment which we will carry out next week.

History

In History, we researched the 12 Olympian gods and goddesses.

We also identified key Ancient Greek gods and goddesses from historical sources which were pinned up in the playground.

You can see us in action in our gallery.

Following this, we created ‘top trump’ cards for our favourite 3 gods / goddesses.

PE

In PE, we paired up and practised underarm throws to our partner. Next, we played a game which required us to return the ball over the net. If the ball was caught, we were out!

DT

We learnt how to create a set of instructions (an algorithm) in code.

We then downloaded the algorithm to a micro:bit.

The infinite loop kept our name scrolling on the micro:bit’s LED display.

Some of us extended our learning to include other information on the micro:bit display.

Tag Rugby

We also had a fantastic tag rugby session on Friday afternoon with a South Ribble Sports Coach.

Take a look at our pictures in the gallery.
