Our learning this week
English
We revised different types of sentence (statements, questions, commands and exclamations).
We then wrote our own questions about a chapter using a variety of sentence openers).
We also wrote a diary extract as Barney from the novel which included lots of thoughts and feelings.
Maths
We measured, drew and compared the length of different objects including numbers to two decimal places.
You can see us practising this skill in our gallery.
RE
We learnt about the Byzantine Catholic Church.
We discovered more about Byzantine Icons and Byzantine music and expressed our opinions about these.
PSHE
We discussed why people choose to save or spend money differently and the reasons which may influence them.
We also considered how our choices can affect others and our environment.
Science
We explored how sound vibrations travel through a medium to our ear.
We focussed on the difference between a sound travelling through the air and then a solid.
Have a look at some photos in our gallery.
History
We labelled a hoplite (an ancient Greek Soldier who fought on land) and tried to use the correct historical vocabulary for their armour and weapons.
We also learnt about the Battle of Marathon and wrote a letter from an Athenian army general to the Spartans asking for help!
PE
In our gymnastics session, we practised the arch and dish balances.
We also explored quarter, half and full turns and created a sequence with our partner to perform.
On Wednesday morning, we also took part in Dance from the Heart!
We loved dancing with the whole school and the South Ribble Dance Leaders.
