Counting

This week, please practise counting in 9’s

For example, start at 0 and count to 108 and back again

0   9   18 etc         108   99   90 etc

Times tables and Number facts

Please keep practising your tables over half term.

We will be taking part in the Multiplication Tables Check when you return after the holiday.

You can practise your tables on TTRockstars, Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

You can practise a similar Multiplication Tables Check on timestables.co.uk

If you practise for 5 minutes every night, you will see a big improvement in your tables fluency.

Please also practise your number facts.

You can practise your number facts on Hit the Button

Sumdog challenges

  • There are no Sumdog challenges as it is half term.

Our learning this week

In English, we read ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’. We wrote an argument between the yellow and the orange crayon using speech bubbles.

Following this, we wrote the dialogue using inverted commas (speech marks). We thought of lots of different word to describe how the crayons spoke to each other (eg growled, roared, questioned etc).

In Maths, we learnt how to describe and plot coordinates.

We extended our learning to complete a polygon on a coordinate grid. We were required to plot specified points and draw sides to complete a given shape.

In RE, we explored the text of the Apostles’ Creed and the meaning of the words.

In addition, we discovered what is meant by the term church and explained what the 4 marks of the church are.

In Science, we created booklets about how we can take care of our teeth and keep them healthy.

In PE, we practised our over arm throw in pairs. We then practised batting and put the 2 skills together with a game of cricket.

You can see some pictures in the gallery.

This week we were also lucky enough to have a cricket session provided by Lancashire Cricket.

First, we practised throwing and catching a ball then bowling to a partner. Following this, we played mini games of cricket.

We all had great fun and enjoyed honing our cricket skills.
