Our Learning This Week

In English, we rewrote an extract of the novel in first person as if we were Lord Somethingorother.

We considered how the Lord would speak and what he saw and heard.

In addition, we wrote a postcard from an evacuee, called Barry, to his mother.

We had to think about every word we wrote and tried to include vocabulary from the novel.

In Maths, we continued our shape topic by investigating 3D shapes.

We started by learning how to identify and name different prisms according to their properties.

We then extended this learning to include the names and properties of different pyramids.

In RE, we familiarised ourselves with Matthew 11 1-15 (Jesus’ speech to John the Baptist’s followers) and then made links between this speech and signs that Jesus was the Messiah.

We also read through and discussed the Nicene Creed.

Following this, we chose our favourite phrase and explained what it means to us.

In Science, we classified a range of objects and materials as solids, liquids or gases in a Venn diagram.

In our ‘Our Happy Mind’ lesson, we started our appreciate topic.

We learnt what appreciation means and the 3 categories (yourself, others, experience).

We also learnt why gratitude is important.

In PE, we continued our dance topic based on the Iron Man.

In Art, we continued making our ‘plinths’ and taking pictures of ourselves in different poses in preparation for our ‘pocket gallery’.

We continued our new topic ‘photo editing’ in Computing.

We learnt how to rotate and crop pictures and then practised editing and recolouring.
