Times tables

Please keep practising your tables over half term.

We will be taking part in the Multiplication Tables Check when you return after the holiday.

You can access TTRockstars Soundcheck to help

OR

You can practise your tables on TTRockstars, Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

There is also a similar Multiplication Tables Check on timestables.co.uk

If you practise for 5 minutes every night, you will see a big improvement in your tables fluency.

Sumdog challenges

  • There are no Sumdog challenges as it is half term.

Our learning this week

In English, we read ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’.

We wrote an argument between the yellow and the orange crayon using speech bubbles.

Following this, we wrote the dialogue using inverted commas (speech marks).

We also thought of lots of different word to describe how the crayons spoke to each other (eg growled, roared, questioned etc).

In Maths, we learnt more about shapes and their properties – we used the words vertices, equal, parallel and perpendicular to help with our descriptions of different shapes.

We also focussed on finding diagonals in a shape (diagonals are straight lines which join the vertices of a polygon that are not next to each other).

This week, we also learnt how to describe and plot coordinates.

We extended our learning to complete a polygon on a coordinate grid.

In RE, we showed an understanding that May is the special month of Mary, and that Mary is the Mother of the Church and Queen of Heaven.

We discussed different artists pictures of Mary and then created our own artistic creations.

In PSHE, we discussed what we ‘engage’ in. We then learnt how we can help ourselves to feel good.

In Science, we recapped the functions of the main organs.

We then completed a diagram to demonstrate our learning about the digestive system and how food travels through the body and how it is digested!

In History, we studied 4 Ancient Greek Urns. We made observations about the pictures on the urns and concluded what it tells us about life in Ancient Greek times.

In Geography, we started our new topic – Greece.

We began by using an atlas to find out where Greece is.

We then used the atlas to discover which 4 countries border Greece and which 3 seas are around Greece.

We labelled these on a map as well as the capital city and largest island which belongs to Greece.

In gymnastics, we recapped the travel / balance sequences in pairs.

We also practised the dish and arch balances and tried to incorporate these in to our sequence.

There are some pictures in our gallery.

On Monday morning, we attended a Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate our First Holy Communion which we made on Saturday.
