Our Learning this Week
In English, we studied different front covers of the novel The Iron Man.
We then made predictions about the story and justified these with reasons why we had come to this conclusion.
In addition, we rewrote the beginning of the first chapter using powerful vocabulary and ideas from the novel.
In Maths, we started our new topic – multiplication. Initially, we used the ten times table to help us work out the 9 times and 11 times tables.
We then learnt how to use arrays to identify factors.
You can see some pictures of using counters to find factors in our gallery.
In RE, we made links between the words of Isaiah and the preaching of John the Baptist – creating symbols to show the links.
In addition, we discussed why we might hear the words of Isaiah and John the Baptist read out during Advent.
We then created a collage in our books which demonstrated the links we had found.
See our gallery for some examples.
In Science, we constructed and named the parts of a simple circuit.
We made a buzzer work and a motor spin as well as making 2 bulbs light up in the same circuit.
In Art, we continued with our 'exporing pattern' topic.
We were given a rule and created our own desgns from this.
Take a look in our gallery.
This week we also took part in a dance festival (see the pictures in our gallery) and practised our hockey skills in PE.
