Home practice

Reading

Please read for 20 minutes each evening to an adult at home.

Reading every night will help you read more fluently and with understanding.

Find a couple of words you don’t know the meaning of and look them up in a dictionary.

Write them in your reading diary and use them in a sentence of your own.

Spellings

These are your spellings for next week:

scheme        chorus         chemist       echo            character

chef            chalet          machine       ache            brochure

anchor         chaos           monarch       chute           mechanic

This week, please practise counting in 3’s

For example, start at 0 and count to 36 and back again

0   3   6   9   etc                        36   33   30 etc

Now try counting in 4’s

0   4   8   12    etc                     48   44   40 etc

Times tables and Number facts

Please practise your individual tables target for your test next week.

You can practise your tables on TTRockstars, Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

You can practise a similar Multiplication Tables Check on timestables.co.uk

If you practise for 5 minutes every night, you will see a big improvement in your tables fluency.

Please also practise your number facts.

You can practise your number facts on Hit the Button

It is crucial that you learn all of your table facts and your number facts as this will help you with many aspects of maths.

A comparing and ordering angles challenge

Our learning this week

In English, we discussed the features of instructional writing.

Following this, we used our imagination to plan and write a recipe for our very own firework inspired by Lila in our novel.

We were very proud of our creations and think Lila would be too!

In Maths, we learnt that an angle is a measure of a turn.

We then identified acute and obtuse angles, and also compared and ordered angles from smallest to the largest.

You can see some pictures of us making and finding angles outside in our gallery.

In RE, we listened again to the story of The Empty Tomb.

We then discussed what it means to be a Christian. In addition, we studied a picture called ‘The Body of Christ: We all Belong’ by Gary Thomas which shows the interconnectiveness of all things in Christ.

We took inspiration from this and created our own picture using a continuous line.

Take a look in our gallery.

In our ‘Safe Relationships’ PSHE topic, we learnt how to show privacy and set boundaries as well as what to do if someone pressures us to do something unsafe or makes us feel uncomfortable

– Say No, Walk Away and Tell a Trusted Adult.

In Science, we concluded our investigation to find out which drink causes the most tooth decay – have a look at the pictures in our gallery.

In DT, we practised running stitch and back stitch on a piece of material.

We then designed and planned what we were going to make out of felt.

Following this, we made our products and then evaluated them, thinking carefully about what went well and we were proud of, as well as what didn’t go so well and we would change if we were to do the project again.

Have a look at the pictures in our gallery.

In our gymnastics session, we continued to develop ways of travelling and balance.

We also created a sequence of balances and travel movements.

You can see some pictures in our gallery.
