Date: 19th Jun 2026 @ 1:18pm

Welcome to your Friday blog

Home practice

Reading

Please read for 20 minutes each evening to an adult at home.

Reading every night will help you read more fluently and with understanding.

If you find any words you are unsure of, look them up in a dictionary and write them down in your reading diary.

You can use them in your own writing then.

Spellings

These are your spellings for next week:

calf    calves          half    halves          leaf    leaves

shelf  shelves        thief  thieves        yourself       yourselves

wolf   wolves          scarf  scarves        life    lives   knife  knives

Counting

This week, please practise counting in 8’s

For example, start at 0 and count to 96 and back again

0    8   16      etc                                96   88   80 etc

Times tables and Number facts

Please practise your individual tables target for your test next week.

You can practise your tables on TTRockstars, Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

Please also practise your number facts.

You can practise your number facts on Hit the Button

It is crucial that you learn all of your table facts and your number facts as this will help you with many aspects of maths.

A tenths and hundredths challenge (to consolidate previous learning)

Our learning this week

English

This week, we wrote a playscript and then acted it out.

Maths

We learnt how to measure lines accurately and write the measurement 3 ways (eg 7cm 4mm / 7.4cm / 74mm).

RE

We listened to Galatians 3:27-28 and discussed what we could learn from this piece of scripture.

PSHE

We discussed money and how we make choices when we spend it.

We then explored the difference between needs and wants as well as how we can keep a track of money.

Science

We continued with our sound topic by investigating what was vibrating when a sound was made in the classroom.

We scored the loudness – 1 being the loudest and 5 being the quietest.

PE

We started our net and wall games topic by practising tapping a ball with a tennis racket, focussing on control.

We then practised tapping the ball back to our partner, followed by playing a game hitting the ball over the net.

Geography

We learnt about some of the different physical features of Greece.

We used the ipads to research information, for example, where the Pindus Mountains can be found and what is their nickname.

On Wednesday morning, South Ribble Sports Coaches gave us an introduction to golf.

We practised different skills as we moved round different bases in groups.

You can see us in action in our gallery.

In our Mindful Movement session, we followed a warm up routine and then carried out some stretches.

We also focussed on our breathing to ensure that we were getting plenty of oxygen into our blood stream and to our brains.

We finished the session with relaxation and a ‘body scan’ which involved concentrating on different parts of our body.

There are some photos in our gallery.
