Our Learning this Week

In English, we performed the poem ‘The Dinner Lady Dance’ in class – you can see some pictures of us practising this in our gallery.

Following this, we wrote a poem of our own in the same style.

In addition, we researched the meaning of words using both a physical and online dictionary, and then attempted to use them in a sentence of our own.

In Maths, we consolidated our learning about perimeter.

We used what we had learnt to calculate the perimeter of rectilinear shapes when some lengths were missing.

Additionally, we derived and used addition and subtraction facts for 1 and 10 with decimal numbers (for example 0.1 + 0.9 = 1   and 4.8 + 5.2 = 10).

In RE, we listened to the story of Abraham and Isaac.

We then sequenced the story with a partner and made a paperchain of the main events.

You can see some of these in our gallery.

This week, we also wrote a prayer to help us reflect on how the virtues of faith, hope and love help us to be a good neighbour.

In P.S.H.E, we started a new topic – places.

We learnt that mental health, just like physical health, is part of daily life, and it is important to take care of both.

We also learnt that everyday things affect our feelings and that it is important to express our feelings rather than keep them to ourselves.

In Science, we created a classification key using post-it notes and yes/no questions.

In French, we learnt the names of pets and how to say how many pets we have.

In History, we learnt the names of the items worn by Roman Soldiers.

We then labelled a Roman Soldier to evidence what we had learnt.
