We have been working hard on our basic number facts to help us calculate more quickly and efficiently.
To help with this, a number fact challenge has been created.
Our Learning this Week
In English, we performed the poem ‘The Dinner Lady Dance’ in class using lots of expression.
Following this, we wrote a poem of our own in the same style.
We also continued reading the novel and wrote about Michael’s feelings at the end of a chapter.

In Maths, we drew bar charts to present data. We needed to look carefully at the scale given and draw the bars accurately.
Additionally, we interpreted data presented in bar charts.

In RE, we listened to the story of Abraham and Isaac.
We then hotseated each of the characters to find out how they kept their faith, hope and love in God.
We also wrote a prayer to help us reflect on how the virtues of faith, hope and love help us to be a good neighbour.

In P.S.H.E, we discussed the Golden Rules and gave examples of what someone would do to ‘show’ that they are ‘golden’.
We talked about how we will try to spot peers who are golden in and around school.
In Science, we recapped possible groupings for plants (flowering / non-flowering, trunks, no trunks, deciduous / evergreen etc).
We also investigated classification keys and how they work.
Following this, we created yes/no questions to help us create a classification key.
In French, we continued learning the names for some pets.
We also learnt how to answer the question ‘As tu des animaux?’ (Have you got any pets?).
In Geography, we recapped our learning about the water cycle and looked at the mini water cycles we had created in our classroom.
Have a look at the pictures of our water cycles now they are fully established!
We also wrote a definition of a river and discovered where it starts, where it ‘travels’ and where it ends.

In PE, we practised bouncing a ball 3 times then passing – this is a skill used in handball.
We then put this into practise in games.
You can see some pictures in our gallery.
In Art, we further explored pattern using lines and shapes in a ‘zentangle’.
There are some examples in our gallery.
This week, Year 2 also came to share their owl factfiles with us.
We were very impressed with their handwriting, facts and jokes!
There are some pictures in our gallery.
