Our learning this week
In English, we planned and wrote a diary extract as if we were Lily, the main character in the novel.
We used phrases Lily would have used and included lots of thoughts and feelings.
In Maths, we learnt how to read the time and write it to the nearest minute. We also learnt how to tell, write and math analogue and digital times.
Please try and practise telling the time at home with an adult.
This week, we also started to explore 2d shape using geoboards – have a look in our gallery.
In RE, we continued with our Galilee to Jerusalem topic.
We listened to and sequenced the story of Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in-law (Matthew 8:14-17), and learnt about what we may see and hear during the Sacrament of Reconciliation
In our ‘Our Happy Mind’ lesson, we learnt why it is important to spot and use our character strengths.
We also learnt how we can use our character strengths in different ways.
In Science, we started our new topic – States of Matter.
We started by identifying and classifying some solids, liquids and gases.
In History, we learnt how Britain became part of the Roman Empire.
We discovered that it took 3 attempts to conquer Britain and explored reasons why the Romans wanted to invade.
In PE, we worked as a team to create a still, connected shape.
This was an introduction to our dance unit which is based on The Iron Man. Take a look at the photos in our gallery.
In Art, we started our topic ‘the art of display’. We began by questioning the role of a ‘plinth’ in sculpture.
We then discussed how to make a ‘pocket gallery’ and took some pictures of ourselves in various poses.
In Computing, we used the BeFunky app to practise editing a photograph.
We were given 'free rein' to alter the photo, so that we could learn some of the app's capabilities.
