Our learning this week
In English, we used the front cover of the class novel – Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo – to make predictions about the story.
We also met the main characters and read the blurb on the back cover to see if our predictions were correct.
In Maths, we learnt the meaning of ‘place value’.
We used part whole diagrams and partitioning and recombining numbers to help with our understanding of what each digit in a number represents
In RE, we started our new topic ‘Creation and Covenant’.
We listened to the story of Abraham when God asked him to leave Haran and travel to Canaan,
We considered the sort of person Abraham must have been, and how his faith, hope and love gave him the strength to do as the Lord had asked.
In Science, we started the ‘Living Things and their Habitats’ topic.
We discussed what makes something a living thing.
In PSHE, we started our topic ‘Meet your brain’.
We learnt how we can train our mind and how our brain can grow, as well as what the different parts of our brains are called.
In our Art lessons this half term we will be exploring patterns.
We started by creating some sensory art using a pencil and a piece of polystyrene to rest on.
There are some pictures in our gallery.
