Our learning this week

English

In English, we wrote poems and thoughtful message for a special person.

We then published these beautifully.

We also labelled the features of a playscript and then drafted our own playscript based on the novel.

Maths

In Maths, we converted from kg to g using the conversion 1kg = 1000g.

We discovered that we needed to multiply by 1000 to convert from kg to g.

We also converted measurements between litres and millilitres using the conversion 1l = 1000ml.

We discovered that we needed to multiply by 1000 to convert from l to ml.

RE

In RE, we learnt some facts about the Byzantine Rite.

We discovered that the Rite’s roots are in the Greek speaking Christian communities.

PSHE

In PSHE, we learnt what ‘Big Dream Goals’ are.

We learnt how to set ‘Big Dream Goals’ with a checklist:

set a clear goal

describe the key actions

identify any help you may need

Science

In Science, we discussed the relationship between distance and sound.

We established that the further the vibrations travel, the more they spread out.

This means that sounds get quieter as the distance increases.

We then explore string telephones – see us in action in our gallery.

History

In History, we completed our research into the 12 Olympian gods and goddesses, and finished our ‘top trumps’ cards.

PE

In PE, we completed the Intra House Orienteering Competition.

We paired up within our houses and worked together to find 18 markers around the school grounds, using a map.

Once all 18 were checked and completed, we recorded our time.

The fastest team will get 50 housepoints, the 2nd will get 30 and the 3rd 10!

Have a look at us enjoying our orienteering in our gallery.

DT

We created different ‘algorithms’ for a micro:bit.

Firstly, we created a ‘beating heart’ on the LED display. Then we used a sequence whereby we needed to press button A or B on the micro:bit to change the display.

There are some pictures in our gallery.

Year 6 Production

On Wednesday afternoon, we watched the Year 6 dress rehearsal of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Wow – we thought it was brilliant and we loved the songs and acting.

Well done to Year 6 on an amazing production.
