Our learning this week
English
We planned and wrote the beginning of the next chapter of the novel using our own ideas and relating it to what had happened in the story previously.
We also proof read and edited our work with our partner.
Maths
We consolidated our learning about converting from kg to g – we used the conversion 1kg = 1000g.
We discovered that we needed to multiply by 1000 to convert from kg to g.
We also converted measurements between litres and millilitres using the conversion 1l = 1000ml.
We discovered that we needed to multiply by 1000 to convert from l to ml.
RE
In RE, we learnt about Islamic art which is often based on geometric patterns.
We then created our own Islamic artwork.
PSHE
We celebrated the amazing things we have achieved this year and discussed how to prepare for the move to a new class.
We also explored more about change and understood that it is normal for people to feel differently about moving to a new class.
Science
We explored the relationship between distance and volume using string telephones.
We used cups of different sizes as well as different types of cups and different lengths of string.
Have a look in our gallery.
Geography
We learnt the difference between climate and weather, and why different parts of the world have different climates.
We then described the climate of Greece and compared it to the climate of the UK.
PE
We practised working as a team and problem solving this week.
We formed a circle and joined hands. We then passed the hoop around the group without breaking the circle.
We also focused on aim and accuracy during our tennis session.
There are some photos in our gallery.
DT
We created different ‘algorithms’ for a micro:bit.
Firstly, we created our names on the LED display.
Then we created a different algorithm which lit the LED lights up so that they looked like a beating heart.
Year 6 Production
On Wednesday morning, we watched the Year 6 dress rehearsal of Grease.
Wow – we thought it was brilliant and we loved the songs and acting.
Well done to Year 6 for an amazing production.
