Home Practice

Continue to read regularly, 10-15 minutes every day.

Practise your number facts regularly. Knowing these inside out will help your children succeed in their future maths learning. We have been using the White Rose Maths - 1 minute maths app in class this week. You can download this from the Appstore or the Google Playstore.

Please also practise counting in 3s's from 3 to 36 and back again.

Next week we will be looking at the /ch/ spelling pattern. Here are your home spellings for this week

chorus, chemist, echo, character, chef, chalet, machine, brochure, ache, anchor, chaos, monarch, mechanic, school, parachute, chute, champagne

On Sumdog you will find 3 challenges. Times tables, Multiplication and division and your spellings. Good luck!

This week in Year 3

In English we retold the lion cub rescue by Bertie. We looked at using good description to describe movement and recorded our ideas onto Seesaw.

The Butterfly Lion: The classic illustrated children's story of unforgettable friendship: Amazon.co.uk: Morpurgo, Michael, Birmingham, Christian: 9780008638559: Books

In maths we have been learning about how to use different strategies to add and subtract. We looked at using our number facts, consolodation, partitioning and bridging through 10s. Everyone showed good understanding of when was best to use each method and explain why. Super maths Year 3!

In history we learned all about the roles ancient Egtptians had in society. We explred some wall art and created some fantasic reports.

In DT this week we used all our prior learning to make our own mechanisms for our moving picture in our new art topic. We planned our designs, thinking about what output we'd need in our pieces.

In RE we looked at the story of the Road to Emmaus and how this story is mirrored in the mass. We discussed the links and had some lovely ideas. We also wrote some lovely prayers to place on our prayer tree. See our gallery.

Have a lovely weekend in the sun
