It’s been another busy and brilliant week in Year 3!
Home Learning
Reading – Please read every night for at least 15 minutes. Don’t forget to record it in your reading diary!
Maths – We’ve set two challenges on Sumdog this week. They focus on shape and fluency. The fluency challenge is table vs table. Good luck!
Spellings – This week’s spellings all have the ei and ey spelling patterns, making the /ai/ sound. Practise reading and spelling them at home:
vein, neighbour, sleigh, neigh, weigh, weight, neighbourhood, freight, eight, obey, bobsleigh, reign, beige
This week in Year 3
We have had a brilliant week in Year 3!
On Thursday, everyone was amazing at our Tough Kidder event – every single child completed the course with determination and big smiles. Thank you so much for all your sponsorship and support!
In English, we finished the beautiful book The Butterfly Lion. The children wrote some fantastic pieces, continuing to focus on making their ideas flow together smoothly. We were so proud of the creativity and thoughtfulness they put into their writing.
In Maths, we’ve been learning all about 2D shape. We’ve been spotting different angles and even drawing our own shapes accurately. Super shape learning all round!
In History, we delved deeper into Ancient Egypt and explored the fascinating process of mummification. We learned how the Ancient Egyptians prepared for the afterlife – and even renamed our tables to match jobs from Egyptian times!
In our myHappymind learning, we’ve started our Engage module. This part of the curriculum brings together everything we’ve learned so far and focuses on how we can use our knowledge and skills to engage with the world through goal setting. We’ve also been exploring the character strength of perseverance, closely linked to resilience. There’s been lots of thoughtful reflection as we look back over our learning journey.
On Friday, we had a fantastic Careers Fair! We met lots of people with interesting jobs, asked brilliant questions, and created some super presentations about what we’d like to be when we grow up. Check out our gallery.
