We’ve had another brilliant week of learning in Year 3!
Home Learning
Reading - Please read every night for at least 15 minutes. Don’t forget to record it in your reading diary!
Maths - We’ve set two challenges on Sumdog this week. They focus on number fluency and times tables.
Spellings - This week’s spellings are a recep of some of the words we've met this term
Counting – Keep counting too! Check out all our counting songs and videos on past blog posts to practise your 2s, 5s, 10s, 3s, 4s and 8s.
This week in Year 3
Our highlight this week was our fantastic trip to Bolton Museum! We saw a real Egyptian mummy, sketched some beautiful artwork, explored the exciting science displays and even visited the aquarium. The whole class was amazing – and the museum staff were extremely impressed with our knowledge of Ancient Egypt. Well done, Year 3! Check out our gallery!
In English, we have started our new novel, Journey to Jo’burg. We wrote a brilliant description of the main character, Naledi, and a powerful recount of her first hours on the road. The children are already hooked by the story and showing great empathy in their writing.
In Maths, we’ve been learning all about Roman numerals. We’ve been using number lines to help us identify missing numbers and have worked really hard to spot patterns and build our confidence.
In Science, we explored the roots of different plants from around our school grounds. We sketched and labelled our own diagrams and revisited the important role roots play in helping plants grow. Some super scientific thinking this week!
In PE, we’ve been practising our tennis skills, working on ball control and hand/eye co-ordination. We’ve spotted some future tennis stars in our class already!
Well done for all your hard work, Year 3. Have a lovely weekend – you’ve earned it!
