Home practice
Keep up with your brilliant reading at home. We've seen lots of book changes and children sharing their stories from home. Well done year 3!
Your spellings this week all have the ending -ly
kindly, quietly, sarcastically, slowly, angrily, gently, loudly, happily, simply, comically, sleepily, humbly, crossly, hesitantly, basically, quickly, worryingly, frantically
We have set two maths Sumdog challenges, one for your fractions learning and one for practising your times tables.
This week in Year 3
It has been another busy and enjoyable week in Year 3.
In English, we began reading Toro! Toro! by Michael Morpurgo and used rich descriptive language to bring the farmhouse to life and recount the dramatic birth of Paco. Everyone worked hard to include detail, atmosphere and feeling in their writing.

In maths, we started our learning on fractions. We placed fractions on a number line and learned that the bigger the denominator, the smaller the fraction, with lots of practical discussion to support understanding.

In RE, we read the Parable of the Sower and talked about the important messages Jesus shared through his parables.
In our Geography this week we further explored the continent of North America, focusing on its physical features.

In PE, we continued to develop balance and mirroring with a partner, creating and performing our own sequences with confidence and teamwork.
Forest School
One group made bird feeders and the other group did some child-initiated learning. We will swap next week.
We made the bird feeders by melting the lard on the fire. Mr Corbett did this. We discussed how the lard changed from a solid to a liquid by being heated and how it solidified again when it cooled. We made a hole in the paper cups and tied a knot to secure the string.
