What a wonderful week we have had in Year 3, beautifully rounded off with our Advent Assembly this afternoon. The children were amazing, so confident and so joyful, and we are incredibly proud of them all. Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support and celebrate with us. It really made the occasion special.
Home Practice
Keep reading every night with an adult or on your own. Talk about what you have read and explore new books, magazines and newspapers.
We have set two maths Sumdog challenges, one is practising your times tables and the other is on time, to prepare for next weeks maths learning. We have seen a big improvement in fluency with times tables this week. Keep up the good work!
Remember to access the fluency booster feature too!
Your spellings this week are words with the prefixes re-, sub-, tele-.
redo, refresh, return, reappear, redecorate, subdivide, subheading, submarine, submerge, telephone, television, recount, rearrange, reassure, reassess, subconscious, telescope.
This week in Year 3
In English this week, we have continued our work on The Ice Palace, writing some fantastic descriptive pieces. We have been exploring different ways to start our sentences and thinking carefully about how to vary our sentence structures to make our writing even more exciting for the reader. Super effort, Year 3!

In Maths, we have been diving into division, even learning how to divide with remainders. We have used grouping to help us understand what happens when a number does not divide equally. Everyone has shown brilliant perseverance and reasoning skills.
In RE, alongside preparing for our Advent celebration, we have been learning about the Annunciation. We explored how Isaiah’s prophecy came true and how the Angel Gabriel appeared to both Mary and Joseph. The children created some beautiful artwork and shared some thoughtful ideas during our discussions.

In French we have been learning our numbers to 20 and applying our learning by singing songs and playing games.
Next week we are looking forward to making our dirt puddings to investigate the layers of the earth’s crust. We will also be delving deeper into animation in computing, creating some animations with stop frame software.
