Date: 26th Jun 2026 @ 2:11pm
Welcome to your Friday blog
It’s been a hot and humid week in Year 3 but children have been fantastic in all their learning.

Home Learning
Reading – Please read every night for at least 15 minutes. Don’t forget to record it in your reading diary!
Maths – We’ve set two challenges on Sumdog this week. They focus on shape and the 4 and 8 times tables, perfect for reinforcing the learning we’ve met in class.
Spellings – This week’s spellings all revision of ei and ey words
This week in year 3
In English, we started our new book focus, The Butterfly Lion. The children wrote brilliant letters from the little boy, thanking the old lady for her kindness and help during his escape from boarding school. We explored expanded noun phrases and created a class word bank of adjectives to use when writing descriptions in our letters.
In Maths, we continued our work on tenths, converting fractions to decimals. Year 3 worked brilliantly when dividing by 10 and counting in tenths.
In RE, we reflected on the meaning of Eucharist in our own lives and created thank you cards about the things we are thankful for.
In Geography, we continued our work on South America. We located Rio on the map and used images to imagine and discuss what life is like there.
