Year 3 Friday Blog 22nd May 2026
Date: 21st May 2026 @ 3:42pm
Welcome to your Friday blog!

This week in Year 3, we have been very busy as we approached the end of another fantastic half term!
In English, we have been focusing on character descriptions linked to the giants from The BFG. The children used brilliant vocabulary, expanded noun phrases and powerful adjectives to describe the appearance and personalities of the different giants. We were so impressed with the creativity and detail in their writing.
In Maths, we have been learning how to solve division calculations using repeated subtraction. The children worked hard to understand how subtraction can help us find equal groups and many showed great resilience when tackling some tricky problems.
In PE, we spent time practising for Sports Day. The children demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and encouragement towards one another whilst preparing for the different events.
In Art, we designed some fantastic stencil sketches ready for our upcoming coming cyanography work. The children carefully thought about shape, detail and composition of leaves, grasses and plant parts. We are looking forward to seeing the final pieces develop.
In Geography, we explored the animals that live in South America and created brilliant posters showcasing our learning. Please see the gallery post for some wonderful examples of the children’s work.
