Welcome to your Friday Blog
We’ve had another fantastic week of learning in Year 3!
Home Practice
Continue with your amazing reading at home and remember to change your school reading books regularly, we have lots of great books to choose from.
Your home spellings are all homophones and near homophones. Lots of regular practise will help with these.
On Sumdog we have set two maths challenges covering the learning well meet will meet next week. We have also set a fluency competition which will practise the key skills and number facts your child needs to work on.
This week in Year 3
In English, we’ve been writing a lovely piece about our special person for our Open Morning. Everyone shared such thoughtful ideas about what makes their special person so special to them. We’re really proud of the beautiful writing.
In Maths, we’ve been continuing our brilliant work on decimals. The children have shown great understanding and have been asking some super questions during our lessons. Keep it up, Year 3!
In History, we’ve been learning all about the invasions that Ancient Egypt endured during its long dynasty. We found out about the Hyksos and the Nubians, discovering how and why Egypt lost some of its lands – and how Ahmose I defeated these invaders to reunite the Ancient Kingdom. Fascinating stuff!
In Art, we’ve been designing our own moving pictures. Using planet Earth as our inspiration, we chose animals to match our fabric paintings and explored how we might animate them as part of our final project.
In RE, we have been learning all about Passover and the Seder plate. We watched some very interesting videos and had some thoughtful class discussions as we shared our reflections.
