This week in Year 3
This week in English, we have been focusing on descriptive writing and making sure our ideas are written in full sentences that flow together clearly. We wrote some brilliant descriptions of the The BFG and his unusual home, thinking carefully about vocabulary and detail to help the reader picture the setting. We also watched clips from the film and even used AI to help bring our writing to life, which the children absolutely loved.

In Maths, we have been revisiting the grid method to solve some tricky multiplication problems. Everyone worked incredibly hard and showed great resilience when the calculations became challenging. It was fantastic to see the children persevering and supporting one another with their learning.
In RE, we further explored the mystery of the Holy Trinity through art and prayer. The children created some beautiful Celtic artwork to symbolise the Trinity and looked at different prayers that reference the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. There were some lovely moments of reflection and discussion throughout the week.

In History, we investigated how Ancient Egypt was invaded by the Hyksos people in 1650 BC and how the Egyptians rebuilt their kingdom afterwards. The children were fascinated by how this changed life in Ancient Egypt and asked some excellent historical questions during our discussions.

We also had a lovely celebration in church on Thursday as we marked the Feast of the Ascension. The children sang beautifully throughout and showed great respect through their wonderful listening and responses during Mass. We were all very proud of them.
