Year 3 Friday 6th May 2022

Date: 6th May 2022 @ 1:58pm

Welcome to your Friday Blog

We have had a great week of learning. Everyone is enjoying Harry Potter and we have started a new computing topic.

In our English, the children have written some fantastic pieces using the novel. They are using descriptive words from the story and really developing their writing styles. Everyone is loving their reading and bringing in books on all our topics. Keep it up!

In maths this week we have introduced angles. We identified right angles in shapes and compared the sizes of different angles.

We started our new computing topic on networks and digital devices. We heard lots of good questioning and ideas.

On Friday, we completed our topic on Antoni Gaudi and collage in art. Check out our gallery. We are very impressed with the effort everyone put in and their creative ideas.

Reading

Continue to read every night for at least 20 minutes. Regular reading improves fluency, understanding and most importantly develops a life long love of reading.

Spelling

This week our spellings are all homophones. It is important that the children also know the different meanings of these words as well as the spelling.

grate     great     grown     groan     main     mane

meat       meet       mist     missed

Maths

Continue to access the Sumdog platform to practise your number facts, maths concepts and times tables. All previous links and videos are available on our blog by clicking on view all blog items.

Online Safety Update

Lately, we have seen a huge increase in the number of children accessing the Roblox gaming platform. This includes children in our infant classes. This week's guide dives into what to expect your children to find when they use Roblox including any potential risks they may meet. These risks include in-app purchases and chatting to strangers online.
